Crash after carjacking kills teenager

MORRISVILLE, NC – A tragic sequence of events unfolded in Morrisville as a 16-year-old boy lost his life following a carjacking and subsequent police chase. Local authorities are collaborating to uncover whether the deceased teen was one of the perpetrators.

The chaos began when masked individuals confronted a man in a parking lot, forcefully extracting him from his vehicle at gunpoint. The assailants then escaped in the stolen BMW. Despite his ordeal, the victim, who suffered minor injuries, managed to alert the police.

Minutes later, a vigilant officer on patrol identified the stolen vehicle at a nearby gas station and gave chase. The pursuit was abruptly halted when the officers lost sight of the BMW. The vehicle was later found wrecked in a wooded area off South Miami Boulevard in Durham.

The search of the crash site led to the discovery of the 16-year-old boy, who had been ejected from the vehicle and was found dead. Authorities are still determining the teen’s identity and his involvement in the carjacking.

The carjacking victim is expected to make a full recovery. Meanwhile, the investigation continues as police seek to identify the remaining suspects and their ages. The officer involved in the pursuit has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation proceeds.
