Couple out celebrating their first baby is robbed of over $140k in jewelry

NEW YORK, NY – A couple’s joyous evening turned into a harrowing ordeal when they were robbed at gunpoint upon returning to their Morris Park home in the Bronx. The couple, who had been celebrating the wife’s pregnancy, were accosted by a gunman demanding their valuable possessions.

The incident unfolded on March 12, just before 10 p.m., near Delancey Place and Muliner Avenue. Surveillance footage reveals the couple arriving home with takeout when a car pulled up. A man exited the backseat, followed the couple inside, and brandished a gun.

In the video, the robber can be seen forcing the couple to hand over jewelry and a cell phone, with a total value of approximately $147,000. Among the stolen items were four necklaces, including a Cuban chain of significant sentimental value, two bracelets, earrings, and a diamond ring. The Cuban chain was particularly dear to the victim, having belonged to his late father.

The entire robbery was over in less than a minute, with the thief placing one hand on the man’s neck and the gun’s barrel against his back. Despite the frightening encounter, the couple was unharmed.

The police are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward. The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, is offering a $20,000 reward for any leads that might help identify the assailant.

This incident has left the Morris Park community on edge, as residents grapple with the idea that such violence could erupt in their neighborhood. The police emphasize the importance of public assistance in solving the case.

As the investigation continues, the couple is left to cope with the emotional aftermath of the robbery, alongside the joy of expecting their first daughter. The community’s support and vigilance are crucial as authorities work to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Anyone with information is urged to contact local law enforcement as the search for the suspect intensifies.
