Armed robbery suspect stabbed with samurai sword

NORRISTOWN, PA – A chaotic scene unfolded Tuesday morning in Norristown when a home invasion suspect was subdued with a samurai sword. Police responded to a report of a robbery on East Blackberry Alley, leading them to a bizarre confrontation that left the suspect injured.

Authorities identified the suspect as 35-year-old Marcus Armstrong, who allegedly attempted to rob a man at gunpoint outside a residence. A woman managed to escape into the house, prompting Armstrong to force his way inside.

Inside, the woman’s roommate confronted Armstrong armed with a samurai sword. In an unexpected turn, the roommate used the sword to defend himself, striking Armstrong and causing a severe wound.

Witnesses described the aftermath as police arrived to find Armstrong bleeding profusely. “When I came out, he was just laying on the ground,” a neighbor recounted. “The cops were dragging him.”

The suspect fled to a nearby home on Cherry Street, leaving a trail of blood that guided officers to his location. The police later confirmed that Armstrong’s weapon was a fake gun.

Detectives described the incident as a random crime of opportunity. They noted that Armstrong seemed to target the victims after observing them exchange money outside.

Authorities emphasized the importance of vigilance, advising residents to trust their instincts if something feels amiss. Both victims reported feeling uneasy about Armstrong moments before the attack.

Armstrong is currently hospitalized and faces charges of robbery and burglary. Police shared an image of the samurai sword, noting it’s an unusual weapon to encounter in such incidents.

The investigation continues as residents come to terms with the unsettling encounter. Despite the alarming situation, police assured the community that the victims were unharmed.
