A man with his kids in his Tesla was shot at by a stranger

HOUSTON, TX – A Houston family narrowly escaped a terrifying ordeal involving gunfire on the Gulf Freeway, as police search for the suspect. The incident, which occurred Sunday night, has left the family shaken but grateful to be unharmed.

The father, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, recounted the harrowing experience. He was driving home with his two children after a weekend in Galveston when a white Toyota Corolla suddenly appeared behind their Tesla near I-45, north of El Dorado Boulevard. The driver of the Corolla reportedly fired a shot at their vehicle, leaving a conspicuous bullet hole near where the children were seated.

The family’s Tesla, equipped with dash cameras, captured footage of the incident, but the moments when the shot was fired were not recorded. The father explained that the car’s sentry mode was activated when he honked the horn, providing a 30-second recording of the surroundings. Despite this, no arrests have been made, and the shooter remains unidentified.

“I heard a loud bang and thought it was a tire exploding,” the father said. His son, seated in the back, confirmed the chilling reality: “That guy shot a gun.” The bullet struck the passenger side door, dangerously close to the family.

Houston police are actively investigating the case, urging anyone with information to come forward. The father expressed his frustration, struggling to understand what could have provoked such violence. “This crime should not be normalized,” he emphasized, reflecting on the potential tragedy averted.

The family managed to find safety until law enforcement arrived, but the encounter has left a lasting impression. “The first time I saw his face, it became etched in our minds,” the father said, voicing his desire for justice and accountability for the sake of his children.

As the investigation continues, the family hopes the shooter will be apprehended, preventing a similar incident from endangering others. Houston police have assured the public that they are working diligently to resolve the case, highlighting the ongoing nature of their inquiries.
