11 people shot in mass shooting

ATLANTA, GA – A night of violence shook Atlanta’s Edgewood neighborhood as a mass shooting erupted early this morning, leaving one dead and ten others injured. The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. on Edgewood Avenue, a bustling area known for its nightlife.

Police reported that the shootings claimed the life of a 27-year-old man. Family members, visibly distraught, gathered at the scene, comforted by a police chaplain. The other ten victims, aged between 18 and 29, were rushed to Grady Hospital. Most of them are in stable condition, although one remains in surgery.

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives have worked tirelessly through the night to piece together the events. The medical examiner has since departed, marking the conclusion of the initial on-site examination.

Earlier in the evening, another shooting occurred on Edgewood Avenue, seemingly unrelated, involving a parking dispute. This separate incident added to the night’s tally, bringing the total number of people shot to twelve within a few hours.

An eyewitness described the chaos, recounting how they narrowly escaped injury. “I can’t come out here and enjoy myself. I’ve been grazed in the face,” the witness said, expressing the trauma of the experience.

Edgewood Avenue, particularly the 300 block, is home to several nightclubs. Despite the early morning hour, the area remained lively, with many patrons still present as authorities arrived.

Residents voiced concerns over the ongoing violence. One local described witnessing armed individuals stopping cars and scrutinizing their contents, adding to the tension and uncertainty in the neighborhood.

As police continue to investigate, the community remains on edge, grappling with the aftermath of a night marked by fear and loss. Updates are expected as authorities gather more information about the shootings and any potential connections between them.
