Relatives of 26-year-old Shanteria Mosely say they tracked her phone and searched an apartment complex before an 18-year-old was arrested.
SMYRNA, GA — The family of 26-year-old Shanteria “Tia” Mosely says she left home Wednesday to make DoorDash deliveries and later stopped responding to calls, setting off a search that ended with relatives finding her remains at a Smyrna apartment complex.
Mosely’s relatives told 11Alive that they began looking for her after they could no longer reach her. They tracked information from her cellphone to the Park Valley Apartments on Valley Parkway, where they searched the grounds and went door to door looking for information. Police later arrested 18-year-old Kingston Lammar Bradley in connection with the case. He has been charged with concealing the death of another person.
According to Mosely’s family, they found her vehicle at the apartment complex and had information indicating that her phone had last registered in the area. Her aunt, Michelle Weaver, said relatives contacted Smyrna police and showed a responding officer where the phone information had led them. Weaver said the officer knocked on several doors but the family continued searching after the officer’s initial response did not locate Mosely.
During that search, Weaver said relatives encountered Bradley and asked whether he had seen anyone leave Mosely’s vehicle. Weaver said Bradley told them he had not. The family continued searching the property, including wooded and grassy areas around the complex.
An arrest warrant provides another account of what happened later that evening. According to the warrant, a witness saw Bradley carrying a plastic container through an open area of the apartment complex at about 8:15 p.m. Authorities allege Bradley dropped the container on a dirt walkway and ran toward a nearby apartment after realizing he had been seen. Police found part of a woman’s remains inside the container.
Authorities searched Bradley’s apartment and reported finding several areas with bloodstains, along with cleaning equipment and a large saw with what appeared to be blood on it, according to the warrant. Investigators also reported a strong smell of bleach inside the residence. Those allegations are part of the continuing investigation and have not established who killed Mosely or how she died.
Mosely’s relatives said they recognized her remains by a tattoo. Weaver remembered her niece as a mother, daughter and sister whose personality brought laughter and happiness to those around her. The family has also questioned how police handled the initial search, saying relatives, rather than officers, continued looking after providing information about Mosely’s vehicle and phone location.
Weaver told 11Alive that an officer who had responded earlier returned after the discovery and acknowledged that she should have believed the family. Smyrna police initially said officers responded to a missing-person call at the Park Valley Apartments at about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday and found a woman’s body while investigating. The department said investigators were continuing to collect evidence and interview witnesses.
Bradley is being held without bond in the Cobb County Jail on a felony charge of concealing the death of another person. The charge does not by itself establish that Bradley killed Mosely, and authorities have not publicly announced a homicide charge against him. An official cause and manner of Mosely’s death also had not been released as the investigation continued.
The case remains under investigation by the Smyrna Police Department. Investigators have not publicly established what happened to Mosely between the time she left to make deliveries and the discovery of her remains, leaving major questions about the circumstances of her death unanswered.
