Woman killed and child injured in head-on collision

ATHENS, AL – A tragic collision on Thursday in Limestone County left one woman dead and three others injured, including a young child, authorities reported Friday.

According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey, Isenalande Senat, 29, of Athens, was riding in a 2012 Dodge Avenger when it was struck by a 2018 Dodge Ram around 12:35 p.m. The crash occurred approximately five miles south of Athens on Malone Road near Lucas Ferry Road.

Senat, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was transported to Athens Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Avenger and another passenger were also injured and taken to Huntsville Hospital for further treatment.

Among the injured was a 5-year-old child who was unrestrained in the vehicle. The child was taken to a local hospital with injuries that have not been disclosed.

As state troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the wreck, further details remain unavailable.
