Authorities in Dolton, Illinois are on the lookout for a kidnapped woman who fled to an AutoZone store seeking help. The victim claimed she was being held captive by a man whom she had met on a mobile application.
The woman approached the cashier inside the AutoZone store on East Sibley Boulevard. She had multiple bruises on her neck and arms, a bloodied right hand, and reportedly said that a man she met on an app was holding her captive.
The cashier immediately called the police to report the incident. Moments after the woman reported her situation to the cashier, a man rushed into the store and dragged her away. The man who forcefully took the woman was wearing an all-black jogging outfit and green shoes without shoelaces.
According to reports, the victim was shoved into a white vehicle – believed to be either an SUV or a minivan – by her kidnapper, who drove away heading west on Sibley Boulevard. The cashier reported seeing a blood-soaked bandage on the woman’s hand, which was still wet with blood.
Dolton police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are jointly investigating the case. Police have released surveillance footage of the white vehicle and are urging anyone with information related to the alleged crime to contact the authorities.
The terrifying incident has put the neighborhood on edge, and Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard has urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
