Two people hurt in violent fight at hospital that sparked a lockdown

TROY, NY – A violent altercation erupted at Samaritan Hospital, resulting in two individuals being hospitalized and prompting a temporary lockdown of the facility.

Authorities reported that the incident began as a domestic dispute at a residence earlier in the morning. Some individuals involved sought medical treatment at Samaritan Hospital, where the conflict escalated.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes as the altercation moved from outside the hospital into the emergency room’s waiting area. One individual wielded a baseball bat, while another used a knife, causing significant damage within the facility.

Chiana Walters, present in the emergency room, recounted how the situation quickly spiraled out of control. “I was in shock, unsure of what to do,” she said. Security personnel intervened, issuing a “code red” alert to summon immediate assistance.

The aftermath left a trail of blood on the hospital floor. The two injured individuals were transported to Albany Medical Center with trauma-related injuries. The hospital expressed gratitude to the Troy Police Department and its security team for their swift response and de-escalation efforts.

Samaritan Hospital assured the public that its emergency department remained operational during the lockdown, which was lifted around 9:40 a.m. Fortunately, no hospital staff or first responders sustained injuries.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident, with charges anticipated as they work to uncover the specifics of the confrontation.
