Two men killed in shootings four miles apart

LA PUENTE, CA – In a series of tragic events that have left a community on edge, two men were killed in separate shootings occurring just hours apart in La Puente. Authorities are diligently investigating any possible connections between the incidents and seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the shooter or shooters still at large.

The first shooting took place on Monday evening shortly after 5 p.m. on the 500 block of Leverett Avenue. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, where they found a man critically injured by gunfire. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Mere hours later, at around 9 p.m., deputies were called to another shooting on the 900 block of Fikewood Avenue. Responding to reports of gunfire, they discovered another man who had been shot. Despite being swiftly transported to the hospital, he too was pronounced dead.

Investigators are currently piecing together evidence from both crime scenes. The second location, though now cleared, was meticulously examined by homicide detectives who gathered any potential leads. Preliminary findings suggest that the shooting occurred on the street, rather than inside a residence, but authorities are still working to confirm the details.

The back-to-back nature of these incidents has raised concerns among residents, prompting law enforcement to intensify their efforts to determine whether these shootings are linked. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information that might aid in the investigation.

While the motive behind these attacks remains unclear, the sheriff’s department is appealing to anyone with information to come forward. The loss of two lives in such a short span has left the neighborhood shaken, as families and friends mourn their loved ones.

As the investigation unfolds, the community’s cooperation is deemed vital in bringing those responsible to justice and restoring a sense of safety to the area.
