RENO, NV – A 17-year-old girl from Nevada is facing serious charges in connection to the tragic shooting deaths of her father and young brother inside their Reno residence, as reported by local authorities. The girl, identified as Mashenka Reid, stands charged with two counts of open murder along with one count of attempted murder.
Reid’s arrest took place this past Friday following a distressing 911 call she made herself, in which she confessed to the dispatcher that she had shot her father and brother, suspecting her brother to be dead – a chilling account taken from a probable cause affidavit cited by local media outlets.
In a disturbing revelation, Reid also informed dispatchers of her uncontrollable urge to take someone’s life, as alleged by the aforementioned affidavit.
Upon arrival, Reno law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of Reid’s toddler brother- aged about four or five years- on the living room couch and later found their father’s body in the garage. The identities of the deceased individuals have yet to be disclosed.
In her confessions, Reid stated to officers that she believed her younger sister was alive, with the affidavit- the same referenced by multiple reports- confirming the young girl was found unharmed.
Reid, who claimed to have left the involved firearm inside the home, has not yet entered a plea. As the court records reflect, she is currently represented by a public defender.
