On Mother’s Day in Las Vegas, tragedy has ensued after a 49-year-old man is accused of fatally stabbing an unidentifed female at a residence on the 1600 block of Caprino Avenue.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers responded to the scene on Sunday, May 15th, and arrested the suspect, Aaron Cooney.
Cooney is a convicted felon with a sordid criminal history including charges of first-degree kidnapping, domestic battery, grand larceny auto, battery with a deadly weapon, burglary, and drug possession, according to Clark County records.
This horrific incident carries with it a poignant reminder of the importance of being mindful of domestic violence and the risks that come with it. Controlling behavior, threats, and isolation are some signs of red flag thinking that it is critical to be aware of, and if you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, it is imperative to find help.
The LVMPD is asking anyone that may have further information about the incident to call (702) 828-3521 or email homicide@lvmpd.org and those who wish to remain anonymous can dial (702) 385-5555.
