Three teens stabbed during dismissal outside of high school

BROOKLYN, NY – Three teenagers were hospitalized after a triple stabbing incident outside a high school in Brooklyn, New York. The stabbings occurred on Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of East 98th and East New York Avenue, outside Brownsville Academy. One of the victims, an 18-year-old, was stabbed in the chest. That teen is currently in critical condition but is reportedly stable. The other two victims, both 17 years old, sustained stab wounds to the ear and chest and were taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, all three are expected to survive, according to the police.

Jenna Lyle, a spokesperson for the New York City Education Department, condemned the violence, stating that it has no place in their communities. She mentioned that the incident occurred off school property but was immediately responded to by both the police and school staff. The department is providing necessary support, including emotional and mental health assistance, to the affected school community.

According to reports, a suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the stabbings. However, the police have not released any information about the suspect or their motive. The incident at Brownsville Academy happened shortly before another unrelated stabbing in Red Hook, just four miles away.
