Three people shot in drive-by ambush

COCOA, FL – An afternoon in Cocoa turned harrowing when gunfire erupted on a bustling Clear Lake Road, leaving three individuals injured in what authorities describe as an ambush. Witnesses reported chaotic scenes as bullets flew, striking multiple vehicles.

Kyle Cutler, a nearby resident, recounted the moment he heard the shots. Despite pleas from his wife to stay indoors, Cutler rushed towards the sound, hoping to assist potential victims. “It was broad daylight, and suddenly, shots were fired—at least 20 of them,” he said.

Upon arriving, Cutler saw a grim scene. One victim was dragging himself away, another was wounded in the leg, and a third, reportedly a girlfriend of one of the men, was slumped in a chair. “I tried to wake her, but she seemed unresponsive,” Cutler added.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey confirmed it was an orchestrated attack. A parked vehicle was blocked by another, allowing multiple assailants to exit and open fire. Evidence markers dotted the scene, indicating the spray of bullets.

The victims, all inside a white Toyota Corolla riddled with bullet holes, were targeted specifically, according to Ivey. “This wasn’t random; it was a focused assault,” he stated. The motive and number of gunmen remain under investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Meanwhile, the victims were transported to a local hospital, though their conditions remain undisclosed.

Back at the scene, the Corolla, marked by bullet-pierced windows, was prepared for towing. Deputies continue to seek leads in identifying the attackers.

As the community grapples with the aftermath, residents like Cutler hope for the victims’ recovery and justice for the violent act.
