Three people killed in fiery crash

PLANO, TX – Authorities in Plano are investigating a tragic single-vehicle accident that claimed the lives of three individuals early Sunday morning. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 75 near the Parker Road exit when the driver of a small SUV lost control, colliding with construction barriers before slamming into a concrete wall. The vehicle subsequently caught fire.

Police have yet to identify the victims, as they await confirmation from the medical examiner’s report. The intense heat and flames prevented immediate access to the vehicle, which was extinguished by Plano Fire. Once the fire was out, officers discovered the bodies of three people inside the charred SUV.

The accident scene was described as “horrific” by officers present, and the department plans to activate a peer support group to assist those who responded to the incident. It remains unclear whether the victims died from the impact or the subsequent fire. The positions of the victims within the vehicle are also unknown at this time.

Despite inquiries from concerned family members, officials stress the necessity of waiting for the medical examiner’s determination before confirming identities. The northbound lanes of Highway 75 were closed until approximately 9 a.m. as investigators meticulously gathered evidence and cleared the scene.

Authorities are employing various tools, including drones, to map the accident site and conduct a comprehensive investigation. The SUV has been impounded, and investigators will examine its electronic systems for any data that might shed light on the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle prior to the accident to contact them, hoping additional information will aid their ongoing investigation.
