LAURELTON, NY – Gunshots shattered the early morning calm in a Laurelton neighborhood, leaving three men injured after a party turned violent. The incident, which occurred just after 1 a.m., has left the community on edge as police continue their search for the shooter.
Authorities report that the victims were targeted while loading equipment into a van following the event. Among the injured is a DJ, who, along with two other men, was struck by gunfire. A 33-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the torso, while a 24-year-old man was shot in the neck. Both are currently in stable condition. However, another 24-year-old man, also shot in the torso, remains in critical condition.
The neighborhood, typically known for its tranquility, is now grappling with the aftermath of the violence. A local resident expressed shock, noting that such incidents have been rare in recent years. “There’s a lot of violence. It wasn’t like this before. Crime rates are just going higher and higher. We really need to change something,” the neighbor lamented.
The party, which was reportedly a children’s event, left behind a stark contrast to the violence that followed. Balloons from the celebration still hung in the area, now cordoned off by police as they conduct their investigation. Officers canvassed the scene overnight, searching for any clues that might lead to the perpetrator.
Despite their efforts, the gunman remains at large, and police have yet to release a description of the suspect. The lack of immediate leads has heightened concerns among residents, who are urged to come forward with any information that might assist authorities in their investigation.
As the investigation continues, the community remains on high alert, hoping for answers and a swift resolution to the unsettling incident that has disrupted their sense of security.
