Three men arrested for sex trafficking 13-year-old from SnapChat

DOYLESTOWN, PA – Three men stand charged in a disturbing case of child sexual abuse involving a 13-year-old girl from the Central Bucks area, according to Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Sha. Zachary Lee McCaulay, 29, of Louisville, Kentucky, along with John Thomas Vaning, 67, and Randy Francis Quinn, 42, have been arrested in connection with the crimes.

The investigation began in February when local authorities sought public assistance following the arrest of Mark Wills, another child sexual predator in the area. A mother, concerned for her daughter’s safety, reached out to law enforcement after noticing suspicious activity on her child’s device. This led to the identification of McCaulay as a perpetrator who had been exploiting the girl.

McCaulay allegedly used Snapchat to pose as a 17-year-old boy, grooming the victim and threatening her mother to maintain control. The investigation revealed that he was not only exploiting her but also creating and distributing child sexual abuse material. He further trafficked the girl to other men by posting her identity on a dating app, Grindr, where he described her as an 18-year-old.

The case underscores the evolving nature of child exploitation, where predators leverage social media platforms to manipulate and victimize children. The girl’s ordeal came to light thanks to her mother’s vigilance and the swift action of local detectives. The mother, upon discovering the exploitation, reported it to authorities, enabling them to launch a comprehensive investigation.

The detectives, part of an internet crimes task force, coordinated efforts with Kentucky authorities to apprehend McCaulay, who is currently in custody awaiting extradition. Meanwhile, Vaning and Quinn, the other two suspects, are out on bail pending trial.

This case highlights the critical role of parental awareness and law enforcement collaboration in combating online child exploitation. District Attorney Sha commended the bravery of the young victim and the diligence of the detectives involved, emphasizing the importance of ongoing dialogue between parents and children about online safety.

As the investigation continues, authorities are determined to identify any additional victims and ensure justice is served. The case serves as a grim reminder of the potential dangers lurking in digital spaces and the need for vigilance in protecting children from online predators.
