Teslas stolen from lot after wild smash and grab

MIAMI, FL – In a brazen act caught on surveillance cameras, two individuals, faces obscured by masks, orchestrated a daring theft at a tire company in northwest Miami-Dade. The footage reveals their swift approach as they arrive at National Tires, a site that doubles as a rental hub for Teslas. Within moments, the duo meticulously surveys the parked electric vehicles before making their move.

One suspect commandeers a white Tesla, crashing it through the front gate with a reckless abandon that leaves bystanders in shock. The car is later abandoned on a nearby street. Meanwhile, the second suspect flees in a red Tesla. Not yet satisfied, the first suspect returns, seizing another white Tesla before disappearing into the night.

Orlando Hidalgo, the tire company owner, expressed his alarm at the audacity of the theft. “It’s terrifying,” he said, reflecting on the potential danger to his property. Hidalgo noted the irony of the situation, given the sophisticated security features inherent in Teslas. “These cars have cameras and can be tracked or disabled remotely,” he pointed out, baffled by the thieves’ apparent disregard for these deterrents.

Alyssa Hidalgo, Orlando’s daughter, shared her disbelief over the incident. Despite numerous security measures in place, including gates, fences, and cameras, the theft occurred. “It’s disheartening,” she said, pondering whether the culprits were newcomers or familiar faces within the community.

Kevin Gonzalez, who witnessed the incident while working late into the night, described the chaos that ensued. “I heard a loud bang and saw cars speeding away,” he recounted, shaking his head at the audacity of the crime. Gonzalez, who was busy with his truck at the time, lamented the intrusion into their hardworking lives.

This incident isn’t isolated; another rental company nearby suffered a similar fate just last week. In that case, the thieves also managed to escape with a Tesla and a Kia, highlighting a troubling pattern in the area.

Authorities currently have no leads on the suspects or the whereabouts of the stolen vehicles, leaving the community on edge and business owners wary of further incidents. The brazenness of these thefts underscores a growing concern over security and safety in the neighborhood.
