ORLANDO, FL – A British family who visited Orlando, Florida, is now mourning the loss of their 13-year-old daughter, Anna Beaumont. The teenager was found unresponsive in a Discovery Cove theme park pool on Tuesday and declared dead at a local hospital the following day. The probable cause of her death was determined as unintentional drowning.
Anna’s close ones remembered her as a devoted sportswoman with a tremendous passion for rowing. As a member of a local rowing club, she had shown much promise, spending the winter in rigorous training.
Her upcoming athletic and charity commitment would have been an Ironman ride that she planned to complete with her father, Pete, a triathlon trainer. In anticipation of the event, she had already raised approximately $1,150 for a children’s hospital.
Trevor Wing, chairman of Llandaff Rowing Club where she was a member, referred to Anna as a “lovely and talented young lady” who was deeply committed to her sport. Her club members and loved ones are experiencing profound grief.
Anna’s school community at Radyr Comprehensive School, where she was a student, was also deeply affected with her heartbreaking demise. Headteacher Andrew Williams expressed condolences on behalf of the entire school, stating that her loss will leave a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Following the tragic incident, her parents, Peter and Elizabeth, and her brother Jake have returned home to Cardiff in the UK. As the investigation is currently ongoing by Orange County deputies, the UK’s Foreign Office stated it would be providing necessary consular support to the Beaumont family.
