Suspect shoots three people before crashing getaway car

PHOENIX, AZ – A shooting incident in Phoenix has left multiple people injured. The gunfire broke out at a local business at 36th Street and McDowell around 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 17. According to official reports, four men were found injured when police arrived at the scene.

While three of them were transported to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, these injuries are not considered deadly. The fourth man sustained injuries from debris from the shooting and was treated at the scene by Phoenix Fire Department.

Witness statements indicate that a man entered the premises, drew a handgun and started firing. After the incident, the suspect reportedly fled, driving away from the vicinity in a vehicle.

A witness at the scene described the surreal experience. He said the gunman, with his face concealed, just started shooting at patrons gathered in the coffee shop, from the parking lot. The eyewitness reported an unsuccessful attempt to intervene, with the shooter successfully escaping the scene when the gunfire subsided.

However, law enforcement officials have stated that the suspect’s car was followed by a witness to the shooting. The chase ended when the suspect ran a red light at 44th Street and Campbell Road, causing a collision with two other vehicles and resulting in a rollover of the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect sustained injuries from the accident and was taken into custody at the scene before being hospitalized. His injuries are also non-life-threatening. The drivers of the two other vehicles involved in the crash were taken to area hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening as well.

Police have noted that evidence found at the site of the crash links the suspect to the shooting. Upon his release from the hospital, police say the suspect will be facing several felony charges.
