Stolen government vehicle involved in shooting

HOLLYWOOD, FL – A chaotic scene unfolded in a Hollywood neighborhood Friday evening when gunfire erupted, leaving one person hospitalized. The incident involved a stolen vehicle bearing government-issued license plates, originally taken from Pembroke Pines earlier that day.

Residents in the area were startled by the sound of multiple gunshots, which brought a silver Hyundai to an abrupt halt along a residential street. Witnesses reported seeing a group of teenagers behaving suspiciously around the vehicle, with one overheard saying, “The car is stolen. We need to get out before the police come.”

Despite their concerns, the teens remained at the scene as law enforcement quickly descended upon Thomas Street near North 57th Terrace. Officers soon discovered that the Hyundai had been reported stolen, although no government employees were involved in the incident.

Authorities confirmed that at least one occupant of the vehicle was struck by a bullet, with preliminary investigations suggesting that the shots came from outside the car. A witness noted that one of the passengers appeared to have been shot in the arm and was subsequently taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As the investigation continues, police have yet to announce any arrests related to the shooting. The stolen vehicle was eventually towed away, and detectives are working to piece together the events that led to the violent encounter.

Residents are left shaken by the incident, which disrupted the usual tranquility of their neighborhood. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they seek to resolve the case.
