Stolen car used in deadly police chase linked to murder

KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX – The family of a woman found dead in her home over the weekend has linked her death to a deadly police chase that ended in Dallas. Michelle Ingram, 53, was discovered under a blanket in her residence, prompting a series of events that led to a tragic conclusion.

Ingram’s family became worried when they hadn’t heard from her throughout the weekend. After several welfare checks, her nephew Ray Saffold discovered her lifeless body. Saffold described the scene as eerie and unsettling, noting the darkness inside the home as he searched for his aunt.

The Kaufman County Constables, upon arriving at the scene, quickly determined that Ingram’s death involved foul play. Suspicion heightened when her new black Cadillac was found missing. Just 24 hours later, Richardson police attempted to stop a black Cadillac with paper tags, which they identified as a vehicle of interest related to the murder.

The driver of the Cadillac initiated a high-speed chase, during which shots were exchanged with police. The chase ended in Dallas when the driver shot himself before the car came to a halt near the I-635 interchange. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, though his identity remains unconfirmed by police.

Ingram’s family believes they know who the driver was and are calling the incident a case of domestic violence. The family is left grappling with unanswered questions, particularly regarding the motive behind the tragic events.

A female passenger in the car was hospitalized after being shot multiple times by the driver. Three children, aged 5, 15, and 17, were also in the vehicle during the chase and shootout but were unharmed. Back in Kaufman County, neighbors were left shocked as crime scene investigators swarmed Ingram’s home, piecing together the horrific events.

Authorities from both Richardson and Dallas police departments continue to investigate the incident. Fortunately, no officers were injured in the chase and shootout. The community remains in mourning as they seek justice and closure for Michelle Ingram’s untimely death.
