QUEENS, NY – A violent incident left a 26-year-old spa employee dead after being brutally stabbed by an alleged male assailant. The fatal attack happened on Tuesday evening inside a bodywork spa located at 41-39 Kissena Blvd.
The suspect is said to have entered the spa just past 5:30 p.m. and repeatedly stabbed the worker, known as Jui Mei Tang, in front of stunned customers and colleagues. The premises, housing various Chinese businesses such as a hair salon, were bustling with people at the time of the assault.
First responders came quickly to the scene of the crime to transport the severely injured Tang to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries, including a knife wound to her neck.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found the suspect, a 25-year-old male, still present and wielding a knife. The man was taken into custody without delay. Witnesses were interviewed in a separate vehicle with the assistance of a professional translator provided by the police.
Reports from police sources to Eyewitness News reveal that the suspect could have been Tang’s husband or boyfriend. While the investigation is currently active, charges against the suspect are impending.
