HARTFORD, CT – The son of a Connecticut state representative has been arrested in connection with a missing persons case involving a teenager from West Haven. The incident prompted a three-day search that ended with the girl’s safe recovery.
Authorities detained 22-year-old Chris Anuskavich, who is the son of State Representative Chris Anuskavich. The investigation began when a 15-year-old girl was reported missing last weekend. Police allege that Chris picked her up from her home on a Saturday night.
The girl’s mother, concerned for her daughter’s safety, contacted the police and filed a missing persons report. She had pleaded for public assistance, believing her daughter was with an older acquaintance known as Anna.
When questioned, Chris initially claimed he was in Florida and unaware of the girl’s whereabouts. However, officers discovered that a spoofed phone number with a Florida area code was used to mislead them.
During the investigation, police managed to speak with the missing girl, who insisted she was fine and did not wish to return home. However, given her minor status and her family’s distress, the search continued.
Using clues from various phone companies and social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, authorities traced the girl to New York City. With cooperation from the NYPD, friends located her in Brooklyn and brought her back to Connecticut.
Chris Anuskavich was arrested in West Haven and faces charges of custodial interference and interfering with an officer. His father expressed disappointment over the incident, acknowledging the need for accountability.
In court, it was clarified that this was not a kidnapping, but due to the girl’s age and her family’s concerns, charges were necessary. Chris’s bond was set at $10,000, and he is expected to post it soon.
