Six children ejected in SUV crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A devastating crash on the east side of San Antonio has left six children with severe injuries after being ejected from an SUV. The incident occurred on Interstate 35 near Frostban Drive, involving nine individuals, including two adults and seven children.

According to San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the driver was heading north on I-35 when a tire blew out, causing the vehicle to veer out of control and collide with a tree. The impact was so forceful that six of the children were thrown from the SUV. It was later revealed that only one child was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Emergency responders rushed all nine occupants to a nearby hospital. Authorities have confirmed that the six ejected children sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The highway, which was closed for several hours following the accident, has since been reopened.

Police officials emphasized the critical importance of seatbelt use, suggesting that the severity of the children’s injuries could have been mitigated had they been properly restrained. “In this situation, wearing a seatbelt could have prevented the ejection of these children,” an officer stated.

The ages of the children involved range from as young as two years old. The community is anxiously awaiting updates on their conditions, as medical teams work tirelessly to provide the necessary care.

The crash serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by tire blowouts and the life-saving potential of seatbelt use. Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are urging drivers to ensure that all passengers, especially children, are properly secured.
