Another Shooting Breaks Out on Clark Atlanta University Campus

Shots were fired near a dormitory at Clark Atlanta University on Sunday evening, just days after a student was killed outside the campus’ Catholic center.

The Atlanta Police Department responded to the incident around 8:10 p.m. and reported no injuries. Police said they would continue to provide patrols in the area, along with campus police and the Fulton County sheriff’s office.

The shooting occurred shortly after the death of Jatonne Sterling, a member of the school’s baseball team who was shot and killed outside the Lyke House Catholic Center at the Atlanta University Center. The 20-year-old was targeted, according to police.

The university has responded to the recent violence by notifying students about a week of mental health activities. The administration also announced that midterm exams, originally scheduled for Monday, would be postponed until after spring break.

In a letter to students, the university said it would be developing a more extensive mental health program for the benefit of the entire community.
