Riotous crowd throws bricks at agents in ICE raid

CHICAGO, IL – A high-stakes pursuit by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in Chicago’s East Side turned chaotic today, leading to arrests and sparking tension between federal authorities and local residents.

The incident began when agents pursued a vehicle they suspected of carrying criminal aliens. The chase intensified as the vehicle reportedly attempted to ram an ICE vehicle. Agents employed a tactical maneuver to stop the car, resulting in the arrest of several individuals attempting to flee.

As the situation unfolded, a crowd gathered and became increasingly hostile. According to federal agents, the crowd began throwing rocks and bricks, prompting the use of tear gas and smoke to regain control.

Chicago police, present at the scene, stated they were working to de-escalate the situation when federal agents deployed chemical agents. This action has drawn criticism, especially in light of a recent judicial order restricting such measures.

Among those detained were two U.S. citizens and two individuals suspected of being in the country illegally. Jojo Juanita Garnica, whose teenage son was among those arrested, expressed distress over the lack of information provided by authorities.

Witnesses, including Pascal Manuel, reported experiencing the effects of tear gas, describing a burning sensation. The event has fueled ongoing debates about federal enforcement tactics in urban areas.

Pro-crime local politicians, including Chicago’s deputy mayor, have condemned the federal response, demanding transparency and accountability from Customs and Border Protection.
