Rideshare driver shoots two people who attempted to rob him

In a dramatic turn of events, a rideshare driver in Chicago used his concealed carry license to defend himself against two alleged robbers early Friday morning. The 26-year-old driver had just completed a trip on the West Side of the city when he was accosted by the suspects.

The duo, a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, purportedly stole the driver’s cellphone and opened fire on him. The driver retaliated, injuring both assailants. The man was shot in the right leg, while the woman suffered a graze wound to her right arm, as per the Chicago Police Department’s statement.

The male suspect was subsequently hospitalized and is in stable condition. The female suspect, on the other hand, refused any medical attention. Miraculously, the driver escaped the incident unscathed.

The authorities have yet to disclose any potential charges that the suspects might face. As for the driver, who was defending himself during the attempted robbery, no charges have been filed against him.

The Chicago Police Department is actively investigating the incident, which brings to light the ongoing discourse about the rights of concealed carry license holders in potentially dangerous situations.
