Pool party shooting leaves 1 dead, 4 injured

COMPTON, CA – A community is in mourning following a deadly shooting at a pool party in Compton on Friday evening, leaving a local business owner dead and several others injured. Authorities are currently seeking the shooter, who remains at large.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Greenleaf Boulevard and South Mayo Avenue, stated the Compton Sheriff’s Station. Little is known about the motive behind the attack, but initial reports revealed that a total of six people were shot, including the deceased individual. The victims included three women and three men, however, the conditions of those injured have not been disclosed yet.

Party festivities rapidly descended into turmoil as law enforcement arrived at the scene, with over 100 guests reportedly seeking safety amidst the chaos.

The deceased man was identified by his relatives as Robert Abdelkader III, a young business owner in his 20s. Ernest Green, a family member of the victim, expressed his grief and eulogized Abdelkader as a “tremendous young man” and a “wonderful person…” He also called on the community to transcend the “ignorant part” of such violent incidents, adding, “It will never be the same.”

Investigators have yet to release any information about the suspect. The sheriff’s department clarified that the shooting was not connected to a graduation ceremony taking place locally at Compton College on the same night.
