STUART, FL – In a chilling case that has unfolded on Florida’s Treasure Coast, authorities have arrested a man accused of stalking, who was discovered to have an alarming cache of weapons and drugs. The suspect, 38-year-old Jared McDaniels, is currently held without bond at the Martin County Jail.
The investigation began after a woman reported to police that McDaniels was stalking her, often appearing unexpectedly at various locations. Her concerns escalated when officers discovered a tracking device hidden under her car, linking back to McDaniels.
Upon executing a search warrant at McDaniels’ Palm City residence, deputies uncovered a staggering arsenal: 11 firearms, including eight rifles, along with boxes of ammunition and bags of psychedelic drugs. These weapons, described as “ghost guns,” were untraceable due to their lack of serial numbers.
Sheriff’s deputies described the situation as a potential “recipe for disaster,” highlighting the suspect’s dangerous combination of weaponry, drug use, and mental state. The discovery of homemade suppressors, which silence gunfire, added to the severity of the threat.
The search also revealed surveillance equipment, including a hidden camera behind a gold mask. Investigators believe McDaniels used this to secretly capture images and videos of the victim, intensifying the invasion of her privacy.
McDaniels’ background adds a further layer of concern. He is a former military member, discharged for bad conduct, which authorities suggest may have contributed to his alarming behavior.
