Police looking for three suspects after 23-year-old shot multiple times

NEW YORK, NY – Authorities in the Bronx are actively pursuing three suspects following a shooting incident in Morris Heights late Monday night. A 23-year-old man was shot three times at the intersection of Drumm Avenue and East 175th Street around 8:30 p.m. The victim sustained injuries to his ankle, shoulder, and left bicep and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently recovering.

The incident has prompted increased concern among residents, despite a noticeable decline in shootings in the area compared to the previous year. The 46th Precinct, which encompasses Morris Heights, has recorded at least two shootings so far this year, a decrease from five incidents reported during the same period last year.

According to police, the suspects, who were last seen wearing black clothing, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. As the investigation continues, officers are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspects’ whereabouts to come forward.

Community members in the vicinity expressed their unease about the incident, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement. Residents are hopeful that the suspects will be apprehended swiftly to prevent further violence in the neighborhood.

While the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, police are exploring all possible leads and reviewing surveillance footage from the area. The authorities have not yet disclosed any potential connections between the victim and the assailants.

The shooting underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining safety in urban neighborhoods. As the investigation unfolds, police are working closely with the community to gather crucial information that may lead to the suspects’ capture.

The NYPD is committed to bringing those responsible to justice and ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the Bronx. They continue to appeal to the public for assistance, encouraging anyone with relevant details to contact them.
