HONOLULU, HI – A tragic helicopter crash off Kauai’s Na Pali Coast on Thursday afternoon left one person dead and two others missing, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. near the Hanakoa Valley.

Mayor Derek Kawakami expressed his sorrow and extended his condolences to the affected families. “While the specifics of the accident are still under investigation, our first responders are fully engaged in the rescue efforts,” he stated. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those involved.”

The helicopter, identified as a Robinson R44, was operated by Ali’i Air Tours and Charters, based in Lihue. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the model and ownership of the aircraft.
