Officer shot while responding to home invasion

HOUSTON, Texas – A Houston police officer was hospitalized after being shot while responding to a home invasion in the Spring Branch area on Tuesday morning, according to authorities. The Houston Police Department reported the incident around 10 a.m. on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. They indicated that the shooting occurred in the 7100 block of Alderney Drive, near Antoine Drive.

The injured officer was promptly transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital to receive treatment after the shooting. According to officials, he is currently in stable condition.

Police reportedly detained two individuals at the scene and are actively searching for a third suspect. Authorities have urgently asked for residents to avoid the area as the search continues.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire also extended his gratitude to the first responders, acknowledging their bravery and dedication to public safety. “I extend my deepest gratitude to our brave first responders, who put their lives on the line daily to keep our community safe. Their dedication and sacrifice do not go unnoticed,” he said.
