NEW CITY, NY – A shocking event unfolded in the quiet suburb of New York City, when a respected police sergeant from Bronxville was implicated in a devastating murder-suicide, local authorities reported on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Watson Morgan, 49, his wife Ornella, 43, and their two young sons. Their bodies were discovered in their New City residence late Friday evening. The Clarkstown Police Department initiated a welfare check when Morgan failed to appear for his scheduled shift.
Upon their arrival, the police found the family with fatal gunshot wounds, and a handgun was also recovered from the scene.
The Clarkstown Police Department, after an initial investigation, concluded that Morgan had killed his wife and children before turning the gun on himself.
Morgan had been a dedicated member of the Bronxville Police Department for 16 years, having risen to the rank of sergeant in 2016. He had previously served with the New York Police Department since 2000.
Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale expressed his deep sorrow for the tragedy, extending his condolences to Morgan’s extended family and acknowledging the profound impact of the incident on the Bronxville Police Department.
The Clarkstown Central School District, where Morgan’s sons were enrolled, sent a letter to parents addressing the “tragic loss” and acknowledging the difficult journey ahead as the community comes to terms with the untimely loss of young lives.
