NYC Dad Accused of Sexually Harassing Several Young Nannies

A father from the Upper West Side of Manhattan has been accused of harassing young women who applied for nanny and babysitting positions. One of the applicants, a 27-year-old woman from Thailand, alleged that during her interview on March 8, Jason Kuperman, 43, asked her to perform oral sex.

The woman, who only wished to be identified by her first name, Dawan, described her experience at Kuperman’s West 58th Street apartment as terrifying. She stated that she was alone with the married father during the interview, and he showed her around the one-bedroom apartment.

The job offer was to pay $20 an hour to care for his 1-year-old daughter.

Dawan claimed that while in the bathroom, Kuperman pointed to a cushion and suggested it would be suitable for performing oral sex, then asked her about her experience in this area. Although she did not respond, he reportedly asked her again later. Dawan declined and began secretly recording the conversation with her phone.

After the encounter, she reported the incident to the police. The NYPD confirmed that they received a complaint regarding a woman being asked for sex during a job interview at Kuperman’s address.

Following a Facebook post warning others about Kuperman, several women came forward last week to share similar experiences. Some of these women were afraid to speak up or go to the police due to concerns about their immigration status.

One 22-year-old Manhattan resident stated that she had worked for the family for about a month during the summer and experienced inappropriate comments from Kuperman. She claimed that he touched her inappropriately in front of his wife and continued to contact her after she quit.

In response to the allegations, Kuperman called them “completely and categorically false.” He expressed regret if he unintentionally made anyone uncomfortable and committed to reflecting on his actions to improve society for his daughter’s future. His wife, Sara Freizer Kuperman, has denied the allegations as well.
