Nine people killed in fatal collision between van and tractor

DEWHURST TOWNSHIP, WI – A devastating accident on a Wisconsin state highway claimed the lives of nine individuals when a van and a tractor-trailer collided last Friday, local authorities reported.

The dreadful incident unfolded around 7:53 a.m. in Dewhurst Township, situated approximately 45 miles southeast of Eau Claire. Only one individual from the van survived the horrific collision. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported that the mishap occurred when a tractor-trailer moving east on Highway 95 crashed into a van driving north on County Road J.

The accident resulted in the tragic death of the tractor-trailer’s driver and eight out of the nine passengers in the van, including its driver. All casualties were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin expressed profound grief over the heartbreaking incident. He extended his prayers and condolences to the bereaved families and praised the immediate action of the first responders at the crash site.

The single survivor from the van was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current health status has not been publicly disclosed.

The Sheriff’s Office stated that the names of the deceased are being withheld until family members have been informed. Videos from the crash site and aerial footage revealed extensive damage to both vehicles. The van was found overturned, and the semi-truck’s front was severely damaged, with the vehicle and its load partially tipped over in a ditch beside the highway.
