Naked driver gets out of car and starts firing gun

A bizarre incident on the Bay Bridge in California caused major traffic delays on Tuesday afternoon. A female driver, who was later found to be armed, got out of her car naked and fired shots into the air, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The shocking incident unfolded during rush hour, leaving commuters stunned and authorities scrambling to bring the situation under control.

The chaos began when the CHP received a report of a reckless driver on eastbound Interstate 80 around 4:40 p.m. The caller also mentioned that the driver appeared to be carrying a gun. As the situation escalated, the driver stopped her car on the bridge, brandishing a knife and shouting at other drivers. After briefly getting back into her vehicle, she stopped again near the toll plaza. This time, she emerged from the car completely naked, holding a gun, and started firing shots into the air and at other vehicles.

A witness captured the shocking incident on video. The footage shows the driver firing shots while a person can be heard screaming warnings about the gunfire. The video also reveals the abandoned car on the street, emphasizing the chaotic scene that unfolded on the Bay Bridge.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire. Law enforcement swiftly responded to the situation and apprehended the woman near the Interstate 880 transition. To ensure public safety, the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 and the 880 transition on the Bay Bridge were temporarily shut down. However, the incident caused significant delays for commuters traveling to and from the city.

This incident marked the second time in less than a week that a Bay Area bridge was disrupted due to a CHP incident. Just days earlier, the Richmond San Rafael Bridge was shut down for 19 hours in the eastbound direction due to a man experiencing a mental health crisis.
