Mom killed by her 13-year-old son in front of her newborn baby

HIALEAH, FL – A tragic death took place in Hialeah on Thursday night. A 39-year-old mother, Irina Garcia, was allegedly murdered in her own home. The prime suspect is her 13-year-old son.

The horrifying event occurred around 11:30 p.m. when a 911 call was made by the young teenager, who claimed to have killed his mother. Officers rushed to the scene, an apartment in the 200 block of West 79th Place, and discovered Irina Garcia’s lifeless body in her bedroom. Shockingly, her lifeless body was found next to a crib containing her 14-day-old baby, who miraculously remained unharmed. Irina Garcia had been brutally stabbed multiple times, according to police reports.

The 13-year-old, an 8th grader at the iMater Academy Middle School in Hialeah, was immediately taken into police custody. He now faces charges of second-degree murder. During a hearing at the Children’s Courthouse in Miami, a judge found probable cause in the case and ordered the teenager to be held in secure detention for 21 days, pending a hearing scheduled for November 2nd.
The woman’s husband, who works as a truck driver and was away on business at the time of the incident, is now en route back home.
