HARRIS COUNTY, TX – In a tragic incident early Monday morning, two brothers died in what is suspected to be a murder-suicide in a townhome situated in the 15100 block of Ella Boulevard, authorities reported.
The men, both in their 20s, were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds after deputies were called to the scene just before 2 a.m. Their mother, who was home at the time, made the desperate 911 call following the horrific scene.
According to investigators, the mother was alerted by a disturbance coming from her sons’ bedroom. She managed to force open the locked door, where she found both sons fatally wounded. The devastating discovery led to her experiencing a panic attack, necessitating hospital care.
Officials believe the 22-year-old brother shot his 24-year-old sibling, who had autism, before turning the weapon on himself. A single pistol was recovered by deputies at the site.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office revealed that they have had previous engagements at the residence concerning mental health issues and family disturbances involving one of the brothers.
As the investigation continues, no definitive motive has been established. Sgt. Sidney Miller remarked that while there is a known medical history related to one of the brothers, the link to the tragic events has yet to be confirmed.
The sheriff’s office extends its sympathies to the family during this difficult time and urges anyone struggling with mental illness to seek help.
