MIAMI, FL – Local authorities are conducting an investigation following the discovery of a body inside a vehicle pulled from a canal in Sunrise, Miami, on Tuesday afternoon. A crane was seen slowly retrieving the black Honda Civic from the canal and placing it approximately 30 feet away from the water near a shopping center located at the 8300 block of West Oakland Boulevard.
Sunrise Police Department officials later confirmed that a body was found inside the vehicle, which was secluded within a large tent for inspection. Reportedly, the car is owned by 41-year-old Marimar Roman Cora, who had earlier been reported missing.
A man claiming to be Roman Cora’s brother disclosed that his sister’s car matched the description of the retrieved vehicle. He last saw her on the preceding Saturday.
An eyewitness of the event stated, “Definitely bodies got pulled out. So, right now they’re in the front seat. That’s why they’re blocking off everything. So they won’t be able to see anything else.”
However, Sunrise police refuted the claim, stating that only one body was pulled from the vehicle. The identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed, and it is yet to be ascertained whether the car has connections to Roman Cora.
