FAR ROCKAWAY, NY – A minister employed at a hospital and a church in New York is facing serious allegations of inappropriate conduct with a minor. Reginal Sherry, a 46-year-old resident of Brooklyn, was taken into custody at his home after being accused of having multiple encounters with an underage girl over a span of two years.
Authorities have charged Sherry with conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incidents occurred between January 2014 and August 2016. Sherry has entered a plea of not guilty in court, and his bail has been set at $150,000 cash.
Sherry’s roles included serving as a chaplain at Saint John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, Queens, and as a minister at the South Bronx Seventh Day Adventist Church. The accusations have prompted the Nassau County Police Special Victims Squad to call on any other potential victims to come forward as they continue their investigation.
The case has sparked concern in the community, especially among those who attended the institutions where Sherry was employed. The police are urging anyone with information to contact them to aid in their ongoing inquiry.
Efforts to reach Saint John’s Episcopal Hospital for comments on the arrest have so far been unsuccessful. Similarly, attempts to obtain a response from the church and its overseeing organization have not been fruitful.
The investigation remains active, and authorities stress the importance of community cooperation in uncovering the full scope of Sherry’s alleged misconduct. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided.
For now, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the alleged victim and any others who may come forward. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
