Miami linebacker charged with vehicular homicide

LARGO, FL – A linebacker from the University of Miami is now facing serious charges following a tragic car crash that led to the deaths of a woman and two children. The incident occurred in May at the intersection of Orange View Drive and Ridge Road, involving reckless driving and excessive speed.

The athlete, a sophomore, surrendered to the Largo Police Department earlier today before being transported to the Pinellas County Jail. He was released after posting bond, but declined to comment on the charges when approached by reporters.

Authorities allege that the student-athlete was driving aggressively, making reckless lane changes, and significantly exceeding the speed limit. At the time of the collision, his vehicle was reportedly traveling nearly 79 miles per hour.

The crash occurred when the athlete’s vehicle collided with a Kia that was making a legal turn. The impact was severe, resulting in the deaths of 78-year-old Gail Price and two children, 10-year-old Jabari Solomon and 4-year-old Charley Sullivan Riviera. The children’s father narrowly survived the accident.

Investigators reviewed video footage from a nearby truck that captured the crash and interviewed eyewitnesses. Their findings pointed to reckless behavior as the primary cause of the collision.

The local police chief stated that they have maintained contact with the victims’ families throughout the investigation. The families expressed relief that there is some progress in the case.

The charges against the linebacker include three counts of vehicular homicide, reflecting the serious nature of the incident and the loss of innocent lives.
