Man stabs wife at Bible study

On the night of March 21, 2023, horror descended on a small Bible study group in Minnesota. Corrina Woodhull, a mother of five, was fatally stabbed in a sudden attack led by police suspect Robert Castillo, her estranged husband. Witnesses described the assault as swift as a cobra’s strike, tears streaming down the suspect’s face as he was apprehended and handcuffed.

Woodhull was a passionate advocate for those in need, particularly those recovering from addiction, domestic abuse or violence. She was a tireless volunteer at many nonprofits and religious organizations. Her friends remembered her as “beautiful inside and out”, with an unparalleled enthusiasm to serve the Lord.

Castillo, who has 8 previous felony convictions, faces second degree murder as well as two other felonies in connection to the stabbing. In the wake of her death, Woodhull’s family and community are left in shock and mourning.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy to determine the cause of death, confirming that a single stab wound to the left side of the chest penetrated her heart and left breast. They also reported additional sharp force injuries to her face, chest and upper extremities as a result of the attack.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for funeral arrangements, with a friend of Woodhull’s, Eriz Meszaros, writing, “She loved her children so much. You would find Corrina most days helping at church, volunteering at non-profits, including Metro Hope Ministries, FreedomWorks Reentry and Aftercare, Against the Odds Ministries, Twin Cities Outreach Church, Serenity Village Community Church, and many other ministries. Corrina had a fire for the Lord that was unmatched. She was beautiful inside and out. I know she was welcomed home by the Lord with the words, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!’”

As of this week, Corrina Woodhull is remembered as a shining light in her community who devoted her life to helping those in need.
