MINNEAPOLIS, MN – A violent altercation over the weekend in a Minneapolis nightclub left one man critically wounded and another man facing serious criminal charges. A 28-year-old man is accused of stabbing another individual in the head amidst a chaotic encounter that took place outside a downtown night spot early Saturday morning.
According to court filings, the contentious conflict was recorded on a bystander’s cell phone. In the clip, the accused can reportedly be heard threatening the victim with violent statements.
The video then depicts the pair launching into a physical fight, which escalated to involve other individuals and spilled onto the surrounding streets near 2nd Avenue North and North Fourth Street. Officers were dispatched to the unruly scene around 1:20 a.m., with bystanders fleeing upon their arrival.
Further court reports indicate the victim is seen in the video sustaining a head injury, clutching his removed shirt to his bleeding wound. The injured man was subsequently rushed to the local hospital. He remains in critical condition.
The alleged assailant in the stabbing incident is now in police custody. He is currently facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and second-degree assault. If convicted of the attempted murder charge, he could face up to 40 years behind bars.
