Man shot dead by security guard at 7-Eleven gas station

AURORA, CO – In an Aurora-based 7-Eleven convenience store, an armed individual was fatally shot by a security guard late Saturday night. The Aurora Police Department has said that the guard was exercising self-defense during the fatal gunfire exchange.

The location of the incident, the convenience store on E. Colfax Avenue in the 12000 block area, was flooded with police reports at roughly 9:00 PM. The authorities found a 36-year-old male victim at the scene who had sustained gunshot wounds.

After the armed man purportedly aimed his firearm at the security guard from behind, a tussle ensued between the two men. Amid the chaotic confrontation, the security guard managed to draw his gun and fired it once at his attacker.

Following the shooting, the injured man was rushed to a local hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The assailant’s details have not yet been released by officials.

The 38-year-old security guard, employed at the Aurora store, was taken for questioning after the incident. He was then let go without any charges being pressed against him. In their statement, the Aurora Police Department conveyed that investigations into the episode are ongoing.
