According to authorities, two people were shot and killed in a dispute over the laundry room by a Florida man.
The 75-year-old Hootman told police in Stuart, Florida, that he shot his downstairs neighbors after they yelled at his wife days earlier for leaving their shared laundry room door open.
When Hootman asked his 81-year-old neighbor, Henry Wallace, to apologize for yelling and cursing at his wife, Wallace refused to apologize, and pushed past Hootman, who pulled out his gun and shot Wallace several times.
As Wallace’s wife, Ginger Wallace, 81, rushed outside to investigate the commotion, Hootman said he shot her twice, killing her.
Hootman admitted to losing his temper. “I’m so sorry. I wish I could take it back.” he told police.
As soon as Hootman shot the elderly couple, he told his wife to call the police.
On the 911 call, Hootman’s wife told police, “My husband shot two people and I believe he killed them. My neighbor shouted at me and swore at me the other day about the washer and dryer.”
Hootman carried a gun for protection, according to detectives.
According to Fox, Hootman is currently being held without bond on two murder charges.
