Man charged with killing girlfriend after she refused to have a baby with him

In a tragic incident, a San Antonio man is facing murder charges for allegedly killing his girlfriend after she expressed her reluctance to have his child. The suspect, 23-year-old Adam Byrd, is accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend, 22-year-old Jade Alyssa Alvarez, just days after he had reportedly committed an armed robbery at a local store.

Authorities discovered Alvarez’s lifeless body on Capitol Avenue around 6:30 a.m. on April 6, displaying multiple gunshot wounds. A female acquaintance of Alvarez, who had spent time with her the night prior to the shooting, informed the police that Alvarez was in a relationship with Byrd.

According to the acquaintance’s account, Byrd had been speaking with Alvarez using her phone and had requested that Alvarez be dropped off on Capitol Avenue. Sadly, this is where her body was found mere hours later.

At the time of the murder, Byrd was already wanted by Bexar County law enforcement for two counts of aggravated robbery related to the earlier stickup. After being apprehended and interrogated regarding the robbery, Byrd confessed to the police that he had killed Alvarez during a heated disagreement about starting a family together. While Byrd wanted to have a child, Alvarez did not share his desire.

Byrd also admitted that the weapon used to end Alvarez’s life was the same one employed in the previous robbery, as stated in the arrest affidavit.
