READING, MA – A man faces multiple charges following an alleged attack on his parents with a boxcutter in their Reading home early Tuesday morning. Police received a call at 12:13 a.m. reporting a stabbing on Bond Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims with non-life-threatening injuries. The man had a deep wound on his neck, and the woman had a cut on her chest. They were both transported to Lahey Hospital and are expected to survive.
Christian Alexander, 27, was apprehended at 3 a.m. after being spotted by an officer in the area. He faces charges of assault and battery using a dangerous weapon, as well as two counts of assault to murder. Police say Alexander slashed his father’s throat and injured his mother’s chest with the boxcutter.
Reading Police Chief David Clark described the incident as isolated. According to the police report, Alexander expressed regret over the attack, saying, “I just had a psycho attack. I didn’t mean it,” and asked if everyone at the house was okay.
Prosecutors revealed that Alexander’s mother believes her son is battling substance abuse and mental health issues. Neighbors, who have been left shaken by the event, expressed their shock and disbelief over the violence on their usually quiet street.
The victims’ names have not been released. Alexander was arraigned in Woburn District Court and is currently being held without bail.
