Landlord finds woman stabbed to death in her home

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – Authorities in Fort Bend County are in the midst of an intense manhunt for a 24-year-old suspect accused of the fatal stabbing of his partner. Jhon Vanegas Romero is wanted in connection to the death of 23-year-old Anyi “Tatiana” Montealegre Izquierdo.

Anyi, described by her landlord Alex Roberteau as a gracious and hardworking person, was discovered deceased within their Richmond residence on FM 762 Road.

Izquierdo’s body was found covered by a black sheet, the result of multiple stab wounds, though investigators have not determined the precise time of her death. Alarmed by Romero’s abrupt resignation on Monday and cryptic comments to his coworker about having done “something crazy,” Roberteau went to check on the couple. The grim scene he encountered led him to immediately alert the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office, represented by Lt. Daniel Calvillo, is treating this case as a domestic violence homicide. Preliminary findings indicate that the couple’s relationship, described by acquaintances as volatile, involved past domestic violence incidents.

Having moved to the United States from Colombia less than a year ago, the couple sought to build a better life and financially support their families back home, explained Roberteau.

Law enforcement’s search for Romero intensified on Monday night when tips led them to the Needville area. Although SWAT officers searched a property on the 2200 block of Richmond St., Romero evaded capture. Investigators believe he is traveling on foot, but details about his direction or whether he’s receiving assistance remain unclear.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office urges the public to report any sightings of Romero directly to law enforcement, emphasizing that he is considered armed and dangerous. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers.
