Jesus Gomez-Marcano, a 26-year-old man from Illinois, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Yvonne Lattouf-Delgado, aged 24. According to Schaumburg police, the victim’s body was discovered on Wednesday, following a well-being check at her apartment on N. Plum Grove Road.
Investigators reported that Gomez-Marcano was at the victim’s apartment when he allegedly pushed her to the ground and stabbed her in the neck. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a First Degree Murder charge against Gomez-Marcano, and he is scheduled to appear in bond court.
Initially, police suspected that the victim knew her attacker based on the evidence they had gathered at the scene. However, investigators later discovered that Gomez-Marcano and Lattouf-Delgado had previously dated for three years.
The medical examiner’s office confirmed that the cause of Lattouf-Delgado’s death was homicide. No further information about the case has been released by authorities at this time.
Officials have not provided any information about the motive for the attack. Gomez-Marcano remains in custody as the investigation continues.
